All prices that you see on your shopping tour in New York are always shown without VAT / Taxes. So the net prices. On top of that, there is an 8.875% VAT for most purchases. This figure is made up of the VAT of the city of New York (4.5%) and the state of New York (4.375%). Some outlets, such as the Jersey Gardens Outlet, are in New Jersey for good reason: there is no sales tax there! Thus, those who want to save a lot of money and want to keep the shopping in New York cheap will drive to the adjacent federal state New Jersey.
Please also consider the import regulations of your return country. There you are only allowed to import tax-free goods up to a certain amount. The prerequisite for this is that the traveler is over 15 years old. Tax depending on each country.
