It is generally not recommended to mount an E-ZPass transponder in the center console of a vehicle.
The transponder is designed to be mounted on the inside of the windshield, near the rearview mirror and at least 2 inches away from any metal or other electronic devices.
Mounting the transponder in the center console or any other location outside of the windshield may interfere with its performance and may prevent it from being properly read by the E-ZPass reader as you pass through a toll lane.
If you are having trouble mounting the transponder on the inside of the windshield, you may want to consider mounting it on a black dot or another location that is within the recommended range for the transponder.
